Cause hallucinations - lighter fluids - cleaning solvents - paint Damage brain cells and can make a person lose consciousness and never wake up. Marijuana An illegal drug that comes from the hemp plant. Increase heart rate, loss of memory, decrease energy level, and panic attacks. This is a gateway drug.

Illegal Drugs Stimulants Drugs that speed up the body’s functions - cocaine and crack - methamphetamine Great risk of death and participating in other high risk behaviors Anabolic Steroids Synthetic drugs based on a male hormone People usually use it to increase their body weight. Some doctors prescribe it for people that suffer from asthma People become violent and depressed

Drug Abuse Use of any drug in a way that is unhealthy or illegal Harmful Effects of Drug Use -Physical – damage organs, sleeplessness, irritability, heart failure -Mental/Emotional - kill brain cells, interfere with ability to think, depression, and low self-esteem -Social – withdraw from social gatherings that don’t include drug use.
