“I can’t believe I’m here!” I shouted excitedly. We had just landed in New York City, and I was ready to see all of the sights. The first place we went was through Central Park. I had seen movies about the park, and I couldn’t wait to experience it myself. As we walked through the park, I saw the statue of Balto, and tons of benches to sit down on. My favorite part of Central Park was the fountain in the middle. I had seen the fountain in several movies, and I was excited to get to see it in person. When we found the fountain, a huge smile spread across my face. I got out my camera, and started taking pictures. The Statue of Liberty was the place I had wanted to see the most. Unfortunately, it was closed for renovation. I wasn’t able to see the inside of the statue, but I did get to see if from a park across the river. Seeing the Statue of Liberty warmed my heart, and made me proud to be an American. I hope that next time I go to New York, NY I actually get to go inside the statue! Going to New York was one of the best vacations that I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to go back!
Dogs make excellent companions! If you’ve ever had a dog, you probably agree with me. One reason that a dog is an excellent companion is because you always have someone to keep you company. For example, if you are lonely at home, you can just play with your dog or even just cuddle with it. One time when I was home alone I was scared. My dog came into my bedroom, and made it not feel so lonely. I wasn’t scared about being home alone anymore. Dogs can also be very protective. Dogs love their owners, and don’t want anybody or anything to hurt them. I remember when I was eight years old, my uncle tried to hop the fence in our backyard. When he jumped over the fence, my dog thought he was an intruder. My dog attacked, and bit his rear end! We could hear my uncle screaming from inside the house. Our dog was protecting us, and keeping us from harm. As you can see, dogs make great companions because they can keep us company and protect us from harm.
