SMART TABLET For Education (E-Learning) Ph: Learning ZTAB for Company / School / College / Society / Customer(s)

E- Learning Platform in Classrooms International Data Corporation predicts total global shipment of tablets in 2013 to be million units. By 2016, this figure is expected to reach million units. International Data Corporation The lowering costs and easy usability of these hand held gadgets has literally placed education in hand.

Benefits Of Tablets In Classroom Learning Students who are silently educating themselves Learning has assumed a whole new meaning with tablets The Safe & Secure Mobile Internet Tablets have visibly altered the educational field Tablets have Created an Equal Learning Platform in Classrooms Some students are quick learners while others are not. Tablets provide all types of students an equal learning opportunity. The not-so-quick learners can repeatedly access the virtual teacher, without apprehension of embarrassment.

Benefits Of Tablets In Classroom Learning Numerous educational apps are available which make learning interesting and educators have to select the right app. Teachers can also use their tablet for selecting simulation games for skill training and gauging how well their students learned. These conveniences free them to concentrate more on teaching and less on testing and grading. It’s also possible for teachers to try out different methods to turn education appealing.

Few Suggestions Using the social media platform by students to post their assignments, hold discussions about it, and encouraging each other with proper feedback. Educators can oversee this digital behavior to make sure it is along acceptable lines. Uses of tablets are many. As an educator it depends on how innovatively you use it to maximize these benefits. Over time schools will conclude that the gains far exceed the initial cost spent on giving students a 1:1 learning device

Tablets are Cost- effective It’s becoming an accepted fact from the various mobile learning projects around the country that by reading on a tablet instead of physical books, journals and newspapers alone, the initial cost of deploying a tablet can be recovered. Being lighter than a laptop, it gives access to an array of study materials, making knowledge available at the fingertips. Tablets, as an educational aid is gaining universal appeal. Ex.: When Thailand made available 900,000 tablets to its first graders, the local media reported, many teachers were asked to expand their tablet classes as students enjoyed content on it more. It is an interesting time in the history of computing and the history of education. As mobile learning projects mature and we start measuring the impact, not just in terms of cost but in terms of the effectiveness of pedagogy. I believe that it will lead to the biggest transformation in education as we know it.

Benefits to Learning Note Taking: Using OneNote students can take searchable (in their own handwriting) notes on their tablets that are continually saved and backed up to the cloud. Using an active digital pen allows precise, scalable, accurate drawings and equations in addition to handwriting. No longer are students restricted to an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper as OneNote allows students to "add space" to a piece of paper as needed. Paperless Homework: In many classes (including all of our Engineering Education courses) students are required to turn in their work digitally. Paper isn't accepted. Faculty grade work digitally and can easily return it digitally without the painful distribution of paper. A favorite tool for grading is PDF Annotator which is included in the Engineering Bundle. Active Learning: In some classes faculty engage and interact with students using their tablets. Student's work can be anonymously displayed in class on the board using products like DyKnow and Classroom Presenter.

Benefits to Learning Creativity: Using active digital ink allows the students the freedom to make mistakes and encourages greater creativity. On a tablet pc erasing the last few strokes of the pen is as easy as hitting the "undo" button or using a digital eraser. If they change their mind the "redo" button brings back their erased pen strokes. Collaborating: Using online shared whiteboards, students can work on shared problems. In class, DyKnow is used to work on group problems and solutions. Typing: A keyboard is still available for tasks where it is faster to type than ink. The pen is clearly not the appropriate tool for all tasks. Handwriting Recognition: Sometimes you may want to use handwriting but need to convert it to text. Microsoft has been working on handwriting recognition for many years and it is amazingly accurate. E-Texts: In 2011, 42% of Engineering text books were available in digital format. Every year more texts are available and prices for books are coming down. Virginia Tech is piloting Course Load which allows students to print their books to.PDF and allows annotations and pressure-sensitive highlighting using the pen if desired. Digital texts allow easier searching and organizing of notes.
