Testing Requirements  SAT or ACT – see handout (white)  December deadline for most schools (SDSU and SLO have an October deadline)  Sending scores

Applications  Obtain online  CSU –  UC –  Private schools typically use the common app.

Essays  UC - Personal Statement  Private Schools  Describe your passions and what drives you. Avoid listing awards, grades and activities in this section as that is repetitious. Go to edhs.org > counseling > senior handouts for Personal Statement.

Letters of Recommendation  Private Colleges  Usually two teachers and counselor  Submit brag sheet to teacher and counselor  Two weeks notice  Option to submit electronically or via mail  See handout (goldenrod)

Financial Aid  Three ways to get aid: 1. The Government – FAFSA/Cal Grant 2. The School you plan to attend 3. Private Groups and Organizations ~ edhs.org > scholarships ~ Listen to the announcements for some scholarship announcements.

Transcripts  Private Schools – required  UC and CSU upon request – ALWAYS check your  Final transcript must be sent by July 1st to the school you plan to attend  Parchment.com – see handout (blue)

Important Night Events  College Night – October 2 7:00 p.m. in El Dorado’s Theater  Financial Aid Night – October 16 7:00 p.m. in El Dorado’s Theater  Family Night at SCC – November 13 th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Must RSVP by Nov. 1 st
