OXYGEN-ALTERNATE FUEL TORCH EASY SET UP June 4, 2011 Chad Koens District Manager

SO NOW WHAT? We are here to help you Purpose of this presentation is to answer any questions you have What are your top questions? At a minimum you need to change your tips, regulators and use T grade hoses Lets learn more… 2

CHANGE IS GOOD Time is right to make the change to alternate fuel Harris is ready to help with the right equipment and technical know how Harris has been making alternate fuel equipment for over 105 years Once you learn the benefits of our injector technology youll be ready to make the change 3

ALTERNATE FUELS SAVE MONEY Savings up to 40% versus Acetylene More BTUs per dollar Lower cylinder handling costs Lower cylinder rental charges Equipment will last longer 4

SAVE WITH ALTERNATE FUELS Acetylene Alternate Fuel 5

ALTERNATE FUELS PERFORM More BTUs per cubic foot Less chipping and grinding Less top edge roll-over Very broad flame adjustment range Less hardening of cut face 6

ALTERNATE FUELS ARE CONVENIENT More product per cylinder Less weight per cylinder Fewer cylinder changes 80% less floor space needed Readily available 7

ALTERNATE FUELS ARE SAFE Highly resistant to flashback and backfire Can be used at higher pressures Less U.V. protection required Not sensitive to shock 8

NOT ALL TORCHES ARE CREATED EQUAL Harris alternate fuel torches use injector mixers You get reduced pre-heat times and more BTUs Injector mixers create a homogenous blend This blend allows for greater combustion efficiency Equal pressure torches will never achieve this performance especially if you only change out the tip 9

F Injector Technology THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TORCHES E Equal Pressure With an injector torch you only need to adjust the oxygen valve to increase/decrease flame intensity 10

DID YOU KNOW? Alternate fuels cut much better than acetylene when you have the right equipment Remember, the oxygen does the cutting, not the fuel gas 11

GET THE RIGHT TORCH Be sure you have an injector style torch Harris model 62-5F works best Take advantage of the benefits of alternate fuels Pick the torch that meets your needs 12

TORCHES 13

GET THE RIGHT TIP Pick the right tip for optimum performance All tips are not created equal Every Harris tip is tested 100% for quality Our two-piece 6290 tips are specifically designed for the alternate fuel of your choice 14

TIPS 15

GET THE RIGHT REGULATOR Proven Safety Durable Materials Quality Manufacturing Easy To Use Design Consistent Performance Engineering Excellence 16

REGULATORS 17

GET THE RIGHT HOSES 18

LIGHTING AN INJECTOR FTORCH 1. Purge both oxygen and fuel gas lines – separately and reclose valves 2. Open oxygen & fuel gas valves 1/3 - 1/2 turn 3. Ignite flame with approved lighter 4. Increase fuel gas flow until flame is slightly carburizing 5. Open oxygen valve and adjust to obtain the desired flame 6. For optimum cutting – focus on a star pattern & sound 7. Depress oxygen lever and make adjustments if necessary 19

TORCH FLAME ADJUSTMENT 20

SHUTTING DOWN AN INJECTOR TORCH 1. Close fuel gas torch valve 2. Close oxygen torch valve 3. Close down system (cylinders): Close oxygen & fuel gas cylinder valves Separately purge oxygen & fuel gas lines then close valves Make sure all regulator gauges read 0 Back out regulator P/A screws! Report any damage, etc. to Supervisor 21

LIGHTING AN EQUAL PRESSUREETORCH 1. Purge both oxygen and fuel gas lines – separately and reclose valves 2. Open fuel gas valve 1/8 to 1/4 turn 3. Ignite flame with an approved lighter Note: Refer to AWS C4.2 Increase fuel gas flow until flame leaves end of tip Decrease until flame goes back to tip Open oxygen valve and adjust to neutral flame For optimum cutting – focus on a star pattern & sound Depress oxygen lever and make adjustments if necessary 22

SHUTTING DOWN AN E TORCH 1. Close oxygen torch valve 2. Close fuel gas torch valve 3. Note: To close down system (cylinders). Close oxygen & fuel gas cylinder valves Separately bleed oxygen & fuel gas lines Close each valve after purging Make sure all regulator gauges read 0 Back out regulator P/A screws! Report any damage, etc. to Supervisor 23
