Student Voice Mental Health and Counseling Survey Spring 2010: 309 Butler students (random sample) 69% female; 30% male; 1% “other” 14% sophomores; 39% juniors, 31% seniors; 2.5 % grad Benchmarks: 44 other colleges and universities for “national average” and 21 other private colleges and universities for “peer average”

Butler Students’ Responses to Questions about Family Perceptions and Mental Health Symptoms Butler students perceived their families more favorably than peers did at other institutions, and they responded more positively to most of the survey’s questions about mental health problems and symptoms such as: Loneliness Self-concept and worth Anxiety Concentration Self-consciousness Anger and violence against others Suicidal ideation Academic confidence
