INDICATORS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH THE POTENTIAL TO COMMIT A VIOLENT CRIME #1 The documentation from an authority figure for the individual’s feeling of isolation and indifference of social norms. #2 Actions that show the need for an association with a radical group that is accepting of their social status or gives them a feeling of justification for their aggressive behavior #3 The violent writing that expresses a character committing a violent crime who they seem to identify with #4 Repeated documented aggressive behavior #5 Public statements on websites or in person of the condemnation of society that the individual does not relate with, or the feeling that society has wronged the individual in some way #6 Arrests or police acknowledgement of the individuals problems or aggressive behavior

INDICATORS # 7 Documented psychological diagnosis of a violent personality/mental illness that is a danger to themselves or others in society. This could entail a prescribed medication for this illness #8 The purchasing of a weapon to commit the crime. #9 The writing or profession of the desire to commit the crime

1981 Eric was Born April 9, 1981 in Wichita Kansas, Dylan Klebold was born September 11, 1981 in Lakewood Colorado 1993 Virginia Tech Father retired and Eric had a hard time fitting in at school 1995 They became visibly different, wearing long coats, dark clothes, boots, became enamored with Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. 1996 Classmates have said that they had joined what was known as the "Trench Coat Mafia” 1996 Their website was filled with violent tirades of anyone that Harris hated In November of 1997, they penned out a fantasy about getting a gun and going on a killing spree. INDICATORS

Dylan describes not fitting in, being depressed and generally hating his life and existence. In another entry later that year he wrote, "I swear -- like I'm an outcast, & everyone is conspiring against me.” INDICATOR NUMBER 1

1999 Harris wrote about this in his diary 1999 Dylan helped get them three of the weapons and a fourth came from a co-worker at the pizza place where Harris worked 1999 Made video tapes about their plot 1999 The U.S Marine corps rejected Harris because he was on Luvox for depression given to him by a psychiatrist April 20th 1999 which was Adolf Hitler's birthday and 4-20.

March 18, 1998 the Jefferson County Sheriffs office took a 'suspicious incident' report from Randy Brooks Brown. He stated that his son, Brooks Brown had received internet threats from Eric Harris and it was on Eric's website. INDICATOR NUMBER 2

1999 The U.S Marine Corps rejected Harris because he was on Luvox for depression given to him by a psychiatrist One entry in the diary of the boys referred to "the holy April morning of NBK (Natural Born Killers)." without a little death? 1998 In September 1998, Dylan wrote a paper for school entitled, “The Mind and Motives of Charles Manson” The teacher, Ms. Kelly reported it to the parents and school counselors INDICATOR #4

1998 Both Harris and Klebold were arrested for stealing items out of a van that they broke into, charged with criminal mischief and trespassing. They were sentenced to community service and counseling. Dylan said marked him for life as a dangerous person INDICATOR NUMBER 5

1998 In April of 1998, at the end of their junior year, Harris and Klebold received yearbooks and wrote violent comments to each other as well as over pictures of their classmates

Harris named Reb and Dylan was called VoDkA online posted bomb-making information on his website INDICATOR # 6

1998 February 1999 they were released a month early, good grades and called likely to succeed They started preparing Judgment day; kill hundreds of people at their school.

April 02, 1999 Ms. Brown phoned in a supplemental report that her son had received additional threats by s and phone. INDICATOR NUMBER# 7

Teacher wrote a note and told about how Eric wrote a violent story 3 weeks before the shooting about someone walking into a town and killing all of the popular people. She told his parents and the counselor INDICATOR #8

1997 In Klebold's 1997/1998 academic day planner are what appear to be random thoughts and poems. One entry simply said, "The lonely man strikes with absolute rage." 1998 Anger issues emerged when he threw an ice ball and broke the glass of a windshield and then later threatened to kill the person on his website.

In April 1999 they illegally obtained various handguns from one of Dylan’s 18 year old friends from his past and had other shotguns that were thought to have been purchased from a dealer, who did not keep records of the purchases INDICATOR #8

1999 Another entry says in part "killing enemies, blowing up stuff, killing cops!! My wrath for January's incident will be godlike. Not to mention our revenge in the commons." 1999 One day prior to 4/20/1999 Dylan wrote in his notebook that "About 26.5 hours from now the judgment will begin. /20/1999 Dylan and Harris went to school and shot and killed 15 people including themselves and injured 24 others.
