And Can it Be And can it be, that I should gain an interest in the Savior’s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be that Thou my God, should die for me? Amazing love! How can it be that Thou my God, should die for me?

Tis mercy all! Th’Immortal dies: Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love divine.

Tis mercy all! Let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more. Amazing love! How can it be that Thou my God, should die for me?

He left His Father’s throne above (so free, so infinite His grace!) Humbled Himself (so great His love!), and bled for Adam’s helpless race.

Tis mercy all, immense and free For, O my God, it found out me! Amazing love! How can it be that Thou my God, should die for me?

Long my imprisoned spirit lay fast bound in sin and nature’s night; Thine eye diffused a quickening ray; I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;

My chains fell off, My heart was free! I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. Amazing love! How can it be that Thou my God, should die for me?

Bold I approach th’eternal throne, and claim the crown, through Christ, my own. Amazing love! How can it be that Thou my God, should die for me? ***

Amazing Grace Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, Was blind but now I see!

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear, The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come, ‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we first begun.

MY HEART IS FILLED My heart is filled with thankfulness to Him who bore my pain; Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace and gave me life again;

Who crushed my curse of sinfulness and clothes me with His light and wrote His law of righteousness with pow’r upon my heart.

My heart is filled with thankfulness to Him who walks beside; Who floods my weaknesses with strength and causes fears to fly.

Whose ev’ry promise is enough for ev’ry step I take. Sustaining me with arms of love and crowning me with grace.

My heart is filled with thankfulness to Him who reigns above; Whose wisdom is my perfect peace, whose ev’ry thought is love.

For ev’ry day I have on earth is given by the King. So I will give my life, my all, to love and follow Him. ***

God Chooses a Leader  Does God know what He’s doing in growing the nation of Israel?  Famine, Few, Foreign Land, Funerals  Does God know … you?  Expect surprises, expect struggles, expect success  God is sovereignly working His plan!

Pharaoh’s Strategy  Control them, weaken them, dishearten them, wear them out…  HUMAN OPPOSITION TO WHAT GOD IS DOING!  PRAY for the persecuted church  God uses even persecution to further His plan!

A LEADER FOR GOD'S PEOPLE Exodus 2  We see the critical relationship between this newborn boy,  Pharaoh's ugly intentions,  and God’s marvelous sovereignty  as He works through people!

 This "goodly child "--whose very existence is threatened by Pharaoh's decree—  finds salvation in the very midst of enemy territory and is brought right under Pharaoh's nose...  to receive blessing and honor at Pharaoh's own expense!

Moses  Jahweh's prophet and spokesman  He realized his connection with the Jews  But soon learned that his way was not God's way of deliverance.  He “man-handles” the work of God!  HUMAN DESIRE vs. DIVINE EMPOWERING

 The consequences of doing God’s work in one's own strength are always tragic and long-lasting.  Rather it must be - In God’s way and in God’s time  His premature move cost him 40 years of his life  But - God wasn’t done with Moses!

DELIVERANCE: THE DIVINE WAY  God heard the cry of the children of Israel!  God’s strategy is sure: Ex  God Himself is going to deliver His people!  But – God will work through a man.

GOD's WAY OF LEADERSHIP  He works His plan by His power and wisdom in harmony with the faith and obedience of His servants.  This is “theocratic rule”  The leader is responsible to God alone!  No opinion polls here!!

 Again we see that God works through people to accomplish His purposes.  Is it just Moses? Or Is this only for “leaders”?  God is using believers today as the channels of His power and wisdom to rescue the lost from their bondage in sin.

Spirit of the Living God Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me. (2x) Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me, Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on me.
