WHAT IS LEPROSY?!? -It is a contagious disease that affects the skin, mucous membranes, and nerves, causing discoloration and lumps on the skin and, in severe cases, disfigurement and deformities. Leprosy is now mainly confined to tropical Africa and Asia. - It is classified as a bacteria (Mycobacterium leprae)
SYMPTOMS The disease manly affects the nerves, skin, and mucous membrane. It may take 2-10 years for the symptoms to show, the bacteria grows very slowly.
HOW IT IS SPREAD -It can spread through the nose and sometimes open skin. ( person to person nasal droplets) -Armadillo

FACTS -About 200 people are diagnosed with leprosy in the U.S. every year -Men are twice as likely to contract leprosy as women.
