Cautionary Tale I have made a lot of friends, and everyone has been helpful. I have gotten a lot of stuff free like beer, Danish lessons and CV workshops. There is not a lot of crime here but bike theft is high. Getting a bike here is not so difficult. There was another Irish fella here who is very helpful! Busses are also close to being on time. I was told i could get a job, which is not the case. I is very difficult to get a student job here as it is flocked with a lot students. Housing is also difficult to find here also, as this is a student town. I am currently living in an estate which is being bulldozed this summer so i have to move out. I have only met a totally of 5 people, both English and Irish. I would really caution UK students who think about coming out here, Think very carefully and do A LOT of research. it is expensive and not a walk in the park to get set up. Students Speak Studying abroad has given me an overwhelming sense of confidence in myself, never before had I understood just how important it is to do that which terrifies you. The diversity I am now accustomed to is overwhelming, I have friends from more countries than I had ever, or even ever planned on visiting. Can not encourage others to do it enough! Students Speak 2 I would repeat my decision to move to the Netherlands a thousand times over, best choice I ever made. What I love about studying over here, is that conversations are about politics, current affairs, philosophy and so on. When I go back home, my friends have been doing the same thing everyday, and conversation can be dull and repetitive. I am not saying that students at home are stupid, but when you go to a new european city you realise how big the world is and how competitive it is. It was hands down the best choice for me. I have absolutely no regrets on studying abroad. It was terrifying going, but I am a better person and will be a better physiotherapist because of it. Students Speak 3 I visited the NHTV open day and decided it was right for me because I found that everyone, both students and teachers, were so incredibly passionate about what they were doing. I found their passion so infectious that I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of it NHTV Breda; 3 rd Year [Game Design] One of the best decisions I could have made. Since moving, I haven't wished I'd gone to university at hom at all, of course moving abroad without friends or family is challenging at times I really think the good times and the new experiences outweigh those moments U. Maastricht; 2 nd Year [European Law] The teachers are very friendly and open to questions etc. I have been getting on well with the Danish people, they are very friendly and have a similar culture and sense of humour to us. I have only met a handful of students from the UK, however everyone speak English which is handy and it is easy to meet people. I would definitely recommend it to other UK students looking to study abroad. And …..the Parents? Tina is absolutely delighted with everything you can think of - the Academie, the hostel she is staying in, the place, the people she is studying with...and now she has taken an apartment for herself as her confidence grows and she becomes PART of the place. She was home this week and showed us much of her work and its development- in such a short time! She is keeping up with everything despite having a misadventure with a bus which tossed her off her cycle at a roundabout. We are both delighted with Eunicas. Without that she would probably be in bedsit in Thomas St wondering why she had decided to do fine art! Thank you, from the bottom of out hearts “Never thought I’d say this. She has rediscovered her love for learning”
