Software Terms Word Processor ◦An application designed for letter writing, reports, or charts and tables. (Microsoft Word, Corel, Word Perfect) Speadsheet ◦An application designed to manage and compare information stored in it (Excel, Lotus, Zcubes) Database ◦An application designed to store and retrieve specific pieces of data from a collection of information (Access, Oral)

Software Terms Presentation ◦An application designed to create slide-shows or other displays for viewing (PowerPoint, Keynote) Utility ◦Software that helps manage the computer and its processes (antivirus, back-up, etc.)

Other Terms Style ◦A set of formatting options Table ◦A way to organize information into columns and rows. Absolute Reference ◦A target that is set at a specific location (usually marked by a $) Formula ◦The process a spreadsheet follow when it calculates or sorts data (AUTOSUM, IF, etc.) expressed by an = before the calculation.
