Spotlight: Incident Report

Spotlight: Restorative Practice

Debrief: What do you do to promote safety in your program?

Habit of Mind #2: Managing Impulsivity Take your time! Thinking before acting; remaining calm, thoughtful and deliberative.

 Choose a referee  Designate someone to play each of these roles:  Facilitator  Architect  Contractor  Marketer Lego Tower Competition

There are three rules: You must use the full 10 minutes. A minute is a full minute, or any portion of a minute (e.g. 38 seconds is calculated as a full minute). Once you start building, you may not go back to planning time. Only the tower’s base may touch a surface; the tower may not lean against or be attached to anything. The tower must stand for at least 5 seconds on its own.

Debrief: How does this activity support Managing Impulsivity - Take your time! Thinking before acting; remaining calm, thoughtful and deliberative? What types of activities do you already do in your program that support this habit? What other activities could you use?
