e-health is a relatively recent term for healthcare practice which is supported by electronic processes and communication (WHO HQ 2002; Mitchell 1999).

Telemedicine is a rapidly developing application of clinical medicine where medical information is transferred via telephone, the Internet or other networks for the purpose of consulting, and sometimes remote medical procedures or examinations.

ESA (European Space Agency) began their telemedicine studies in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, in It was communicated between two Italian Hospitals and mobile Sarajevo Hospital via telemedicine. Avrupa Uzay Dairesinin Teletıp Projeleri-1, TSK Sağlık Komutanlığı, Askeri Tıp Teknolojileri Bülteni, Sayı:2, Ekim 2005, Syf:23-25,

The Pew Internet & American Life survey reported that in 2000 fifty-two million adult Americans, 55% of the Internet-user population, have turned to Internet sources to seek health information ( 26 &Section=ReportLevel2&Field=Level2ID&ID=123). The 130th Annual Meeting of APHA, m/session_9354.htm

Turkey Internet Usage Stats and Market Report Internet Usage Statistics: 16,000,000 Internet users as of Sept./06, 21.1% of the population, according to the ITU.

The Health Ministry of Turkey started the Telemedicine Project in 2007, on selected pilot cities; Ankara, Rize, Kayseri, Amasya, and Erzurum. basliyor-t html Bozkurt H, Sağlıkta Teletıp Dönemi, a-teletip-donemi.php

Geographical Information Systems will be used in this Telemedicine Project and the following the diseases and the patients will be more easily.

Not only the patients but also the healthy people will be followed with this system aged female population, vaccines, newborns will be followed. Communicable diseases, cancers, and other non communicable diseases will be followed easily too. donemi haberi.html

Supercourse, is a repository of lectures on global health and prevention designed to improve the teaching of prevention. Supercourse has a network of over scientists in 174 countries who are sharing for free a library of 3623 lectures in 26 languages. The Supercourse has been produced at the WHO Collaborating Center University of Pittsburgh, with core developers Ronald LaPorte, Ph.D., Faina Linkov, Ph.D., Mita Lovalekar, M.D., Ph.D. and Eugene Shubnikov M.D..

Question: What is the best way to improve health training/research? Answer: Improve the lectures.

Question: How do we improve health training/research lectures. Answer: Have faculty worldwide share their lectures.

Question: Will faculty share lectures? Answer: Yes, The Supercourse has 58,000 faculty from 174 countries who created a Library of Lectures with

One of the most traumatic days in life is teaching one's first class. New teachers spend weeks preparing the first lecture, and it still is usually poor. Why can not they use the template lectures of experienced teachers?

Supercourse originally funded three times by NASA, and by the National Library of Medicine. “Library of Lectures” with passionate scientific lectures was built from across the world. Supercourse developed a technology for inexpensive, sustainable global training. The program consists of:

Open Source: A Global faculty is developing and sharing their best, most passionate lectures in the area of Prevention and the Internet using an open source model. This benefits all. The experienced faculty member can beef up their lectures that are not cutting edge. New instructors reduce preparation time and have better lectures. Faculty in developing countries have access to current prevention information for the first time.

Statistical Quality Assurance: We have established a Deming Model of statistical quality control to monitor lectures over time.

“Support” Educators: The Library of Lectures consists of exciting lectures by academic prevention experts in the field. The classroom teacher “takes” them out for free like a library book. We “coach” the teacher rather than directly teaching students from a distance.

Text books: British Medical Association put text books on line for us

Multilingual: For global use, the first lecture is in 8 languages. We are experimenting with machine translation as well. We have lectures in 26 languages.

Faculty: Nine Noble Prize winners, the US Surgeon General, 31 IOM (Institute of Medicine) members, 39 AES (American Epidemiologic Society) members, 43 NAS (The National Academy of Science) members and other top people contributed lectures.

JIT lectures: Within days after a disaster lectures are provided, e.g. the Bam Earthquake, and Tsunami

Mirrored Servers and CDs: Supercourse have many mirrored servers in Egypt, Sudan, China, Mongolia and others. Supercourse have distributed 20,000 Supercourse CDs

I got acquainted with Supercourse in 2001, after the Congress of Epidemiology, Toronto, Canada. I have been interested in Prof. Ron LaPorte’s newsletters and the Supercourse CD. After that our communication with the supercourse team began(2001). Prof. Ron LaPorte’s: Director, WHO Collaborating Center, Professor of Epidemiology, Uni. Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

The Global health network is designed to link together Information Technology with Global health. Supercourse team also need to recognize that Global health is interdisciplinary with people from engineering, public health, anthropology, physics, law, who are needed as much if not more than clinicians.

The Internet and Prevention Education is the pathway towards improved global health. A system like this has all the characteristics needed to improve health in that it attacks multiple diseases, it is wide spread, it is powerfully effective, it is inexpensive and sustainable. Global Health Network Supercourse, 3.htm

The supercourse team have published over 121 papers in leading medical journals including Nature, Lancet, British Medical Journal, Military Medicine, Nature Medicine, PNAS among others. Their web pages have been identified as in the top 100 by PC Magazine, and one of the top 11 content pages by the Lancet. They receive 75 million hits a year.
