Where do we need to be soon? How do we get to our goal?
Technology vs. Student Needs Campus technology needs to exceed student technology so the student can progress, not regress Students need to be able to buy new computers with the newest software and not worry if they are compatible with the campus and if the campus is up to date.
Technology vs. Student Need Special needs students must have the best software and technology, so they can be successful in the classroom. There are many new software programs and devices that will help our student’s with disabilities to become successful in the classroom. Our Disability Support Services office works with our plan to keep it current.
What Have we Included in the Plan? Podcast courses CD courses RETAIN software to keep students from falling through the cracks More collaborative work in courses to include wiki assignments, and Blackboard live classrooms. Courses using Cloud Computing like My Math Lab and Ilab for computer science.
What Have we Included in the Plan? Professional Development opportunities using – Starlink – Virtual Classrooms – Podcast tutorials for Blackboard – On campus trainings with our training department – Breakout sessions at our faculty meetings – Peer “Share your Knowledge” blogs
Let’s Wrap it Up! In today’s classroom, we need to USE technology. We must keep up with the new, and get rid of the old. We need to look at technology as our lifesaver when the sea of students gets too rough; we can hold onto a lifesaver (technology) and see where the waves take us.
