Welcome to Horizons Night I am Gifted... Tanya Cheeves: 1 st, 2 nd, and 4 th grades Sandra Landers: 3rd and 5 th grades

Operates under the state and county guidelines to identify and meet the needs of students who are intellectually and creatively gifted. Is a resource for ALL teachers and staff who work with these students on a daily basis. Strives to encourage higher levels of thinking and performance for ALL students.

1. Gifted students will develop advanced research skills and methods. 2. Gifted students will develop and practice creative thinking and creative problem-solving skills with a variety of complex topics within the area of study. 3. Gifted students will develop and practice critical thinking skills in the pertinent academic area.

4. Gifted students will develop and practice logical problem solving skills in the pertinent academic area. 5. Gifted students will develop advanced communication skills. 6. Gifted students will develop an understanding of self and how their unique characteristics may influence interactions with others.

Am I prepared for class? Did I use technology appropriately? Did I work well on my team? Did I complete my assignment? Did I clean up my personal space? Horizons students will monitor their own learning behaviors each week using a rubric posted in their classrooms They will record their scores in a chart to show their growth in each area!
