Priority 1 Foster a culture of academic excellence by systematically strengthening the educational programs and quality of teaching that lead directly to greater student success. Priority 1 Summary Below Expectation GoodExem -plary Recommendations Priority 1.1 Develop and implement a new educational master plan that focuses on enhancing the academic enterprise of the core campus. Priority 2 Summary Below Expectation GoodExemplaryRecommendations Priority 2.1 Create a new facilities master plan that directs improvements over the next ten years X Review Facilities Master Plan for possible adjustments in construction projects including Proposition A/AA and other capital construction projects to maximize utilization of funds and alignment of college planning priorities. Carefully document and communicate advantages and disadvantages of potential adjustments, including delay-related costs. (Review completed Spring 2005) Priority 2.2 Develop a series of plans: 1.Capital improvement plan 2.Hazardous substance removal plan 3.Scheduled maintenance plan 4.Title 9 compliance plan 5.ADA compliance plan 6.Safety plan & emergency plan X Copies of 5 plans or drafts of plans are in place. ADA Compliance Plan not in place. ADA Compliance Plans are being prepared by District for all campuses. Safety & Emergency Plan incomplete and drills have not been practiced. Recommendations: Follow up to see that District provides the current ADA Compliance Plan by Fall 2005 Complete Health, Safety & Emergency Plans, provide training, dissemination, implementation of plans by May 2006; conduct annual drills to simulate actual emergency. Review existing plans Spring 2006 Priority Create opportunities for increased social interaction, events 2.Food service and college-wide gathering places. XXXX Schedule, advertise, and promote two campus-wide events annually Reevaluate possibility of scheduling a class pass period Ensure that campus plans include a large multipurpose site to accommodate events Priority 2.4 Provide a cleaner work environment, especially in restroom areas. X Re-assign maintenance personnel and provide procedures, schedules, and supervision particularly in restroom areas by Fall 2005.

Priority 3 Summary Below Expectation GoodExemplaryRecommendations Priority 3.1 Convene a summit of elected officials and community leaders to identify unmet needs and develop collaborative responses to those needs. X Continue the ongoing outreach and partnerships with community leaders including elected officials, high schools and four-year colleges, and business and industry. Priority 3.2 Improve and extend the use of advisory boards as a means to revitalize academic programs, ensure currency, and facilitate resource development efforts. X Provide Advisory Handbook to Department Chairs (Vocational Education and non-Vocational Educational departments) and encourage non-vocational departments to consider advisory committees. Establish and closely monitor process that will ensure certificates are submitted on time to qualified students. Priority 3.3 Create a series of satellite campuses that bring the college’s entry-level programs and services to communities within our service area. X Conduct viability study and monitor success of Wilshire Center. (Committee established January 25, 2006) Plan and promote Northeast Campus program scheduled for (Process scheduled to begin February 2006).

Priority 4 Summary Below Expectation Goo d Exemplary Recommendations Priority 4.1 Reevaluate the effective and efficient delivery of counseling services in support of student success. X Continue implementing recommended Title V initiatives. Expand successful processes developed by EOPS to include other at- risk students including computerized software used to develop and track student progress. Priority 4.2 Design a comprehensive system that includes a widespread, early intervention strategy that focuses on student success skills. X Evaluate the feasibility of institutionalizing a system that includes the following by Fall Implement a system based on the six recommendations below. 1.Mandatory “orientation” process during 1 st semester including.5 or 1-unit course/information session (taught by counselors). 2.LASSI as part of assessment placement with all non-ESL assessments to include the LASSI with low scores programmed for Education Ed 101 a prerequisite/co-requisite/advisory to English, math, etc. ED 101 taught by faculty from across disciplines. 4.Provide student success workshops and encourage instructors to allow credit to students who attend. 5.SSI committee provide input for Flex Day for faculty. 6.Improve efficiency of Early-Alert program. Priority 4.3 Develop and implement a new, comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of students who are unable to perform college-level work. X Institutionalize Learning Skills workshops (piloted ). Workshops will be offered at three different intervals within the semester, providing students with basic skills instruction in target ed study skills and test-taking strategies, note-taking methods, vocabulary development, and basic math computations. Priority 4.4 Identify critical student services work processes and redesign them to be simple, effective, and both student and staff friendly. X Continue to pursue identifying and designing a location and environment appropriate to the implementation of work-flow plan, designed under Title V grant

Priority Below Expectation GoodExemplary Recommendations Priority 8.1 Design and implement a system that links assessment results, pre-requisite checking, and placement. x x Ensure that all non-exempt entering students are assessed and placed in appropriate classes. Enforce pre-requisites and co-requisites as they exist on course outlines. Priority 8.2 Improve and extend the program review process college-wide to provide the means for department-based improvement and to inform the budget process. x Continue the established program review process, and strengthen the function of program outcomes within that process. Continue to directly link funding to program review. Identify and assess SLOs for academic and student services programs. Ensure that Administrative Services and President’s Office participate in the program review process. Identify and assess SLOs for academic and students services programs Priority 8.3 Research the issue of student achievement and implement a pilot project for assessing learning in specific disciplines. x XXXX Ensure that all departments identify and assess SLOs. Expand the SLO assessment pilot program conducted by the following disciplines: child development, political science, Chicano studies, music, geophysical science, photography, Spanish, Korean, math and learning skills to all departments. Implement changes based on assessment of outcomes that lead to improved learning and achievement. Priority 8.4 Create and institutionalize an Institutional Research Council that ensures that our data-gathering efforts match key institutional decisions and is responsible for the vital signs process of this strategic plan Continue the work of the Institutional Research Advisory Council (IRAC) and identify additional appropriate assessment measures. Restructure SGC to ensure that IRAC report to SGC as a taskforce of that body. Priority 8.5 Revise the shared governance document 1998 to reflect a renewed commitment to participative decision-making and continuous improvement. x Continue the process established by SGP in 2002 and 2004 whereby the Shared Governance Model is reviewed and revised every two years. x xxxx
