ICR - What Can It Tell You? Bobbie Everett, Senior Research Analyst Paul Earls, Research Analyst Institutional Research Office Central Piedmont Community College

Purpose To take a copy of your transmitted ICR curriculum and extension files and convert them into SAS datasets and Excel spreadsheets. The SAS datasets can then be used with the canned SAS programs to generate analyses in Excel spreadsheets. The Excel spreadsheets can be used with other applications such as SPSS to generate the same and additional useful analyses.

SAS Steps  Create a folder in the root of C: named ICRWORK (C:\ICRWORK)  Save your curriculum ICR file as C_ICR_yyyytt where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Save your extension ICR file as E_ICR_yyyytt where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.

SAS Steps - continued  Open - ICR_CurriculumDatasetCreation_CCPRO_ SAS  Change the “%LET yt00=“ variable to the same yyyytt as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Single click the SAS “Submit” button.  Your SAS dataset and Excel spreadsheet are now created and saved to your C:\ICRWORK folder.  You are now ready to run some SAS analyses using the SAS dataset OR other application analyses using an application such as SPSS on your curriculum ICR file.

SAS Steps - continued  Open - ICR_ExtensionDatasetCreation_CCPRO_ SAS  Change the “%LET yt00=“ variable to the same yyyytt as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Change the “%LET yr00=“ variable to the same yyyy as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year.  Change the “%LET pr00=“ variable to the same t as your file name where t is the 1 digit reporting term.  Single click the SAS “Submit” button.  Your SAS dataset and Excel spreadsheet are now created and saved to your C:\ICRWORK folder.  You are now ready to run some SAS analyses using the SAS dataset OR other application analyses using an application such as SPSS on your extension ICR file.

SAS Analyses Programs Sections, Seats, & FTE by prefix analysis  Open ICR_CurriculumSectionsSeatsFTEByPrefix_Datatel.SAS  Change the “%LET yt01=“ variable to the same yyyytt as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Single click the SAS “Submit” button.  Your analysis of sections, seats, & FTE by prefix is now complete and saved to an Excel spreadsheet for formatting.

SAS Analyses Programs - cont. Sections, Seats, & FTE by course analysis  Open ICR_CurriculumSectionsSeatsFTEByCourse_Datatel.SAS  Change the “%LET yt01=“ variable to the same yyyytt as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Single click the SAS “Submit” button.  Your analysis of sections, seats, & FTE by course is now complete and saved to an Excel spreadsheet for formatting.

SAS Analyses Programs - cont. Sections, Seats & FTE by Instructional Method (I_Method) analysis  Open ICR_CurriculumSectionsSeatsFTEByIMethod_Datatel.SAS  Change the “%LET yt01=“ variable to the same yyyytt as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Single click the SAS “Submit” button.  Your analysis of sections, seats, & FTE by instructional method is now complete and saved to an Excel spreadsheet for formatting.

SAS Analyses Programs - cont. Sections, Seats & FTE by campus analysis  Open ICR_CurriculumSectionsSeatsFTEByCampus_Datatel.SAS  Change the “%LET yt01=“ variable to the same yyyytt as your file name where yyyy is the reporting year and tt is the 2 digit reporting term.  Single click the SAS “Submit” button.  Your analysis of sections, seats, & FTE by campus is now complete and saved to an Excel spreadsheet for formatting.
