System Training It is essential that you arrange for training on any campus multimedia podium system before you use it ! TO ARRANGE FOR TRAINING PLEASE CALL THE CTL AT X5347 Know WHAT you are using and HOW to use it !

Room Set Up Step 1. Unlock Podium and “Blue Box” (keys are available in the F130 office) Note: “Blue Box” might look different than the image below

System Overview APC Net9RM Surge Protector Extron MLS 406 Switcher. DVD VCR DO NOT ADJUST! USE CONTROLLER ON TOP OF PODIUM FOR ALL CONTROL

System Power Up Step 1. Use the APC Net9RM to power up all equipment in podium except the PC. Step 2. Power up Extron MLC 206 Controller. This will also power on the projector.

System Power Up Step 3. Power on the Receiver in the “Blue Box”

System Power Up NOTE: There are multiple types of of Receivers in the FPAC. Set the Receiver properly based on what room you are located If the receiver is not on, push the POWER BUTTON Some receiver models use buttons to select input. Set the receiver to the input associated with “PODIUM” usually marked with a label Some receiver models use an input select dial to select device inputs. For these models, turn the dial until the input associated with “PODIUM” or “POD” is selected, usually indicated by a label

TO PLAY VIDEO TAPES STEP 1. Insert video tape into VCR VCR

TO PLAY VIDEO TAPES STEP 2. Press the VCR button

STEP 3. Cue up tape to starting point by using remote & pressing “play” button. (Must be behind podium pointing remote at VCR). TO PLAY VIDEO TAPES VCR

NOTE: There are two types of Receivers in the FPAC. Set The Receiver properly based on what room you are in F220, F224, F226, F230 F222 STEP 4: Adjust Volume on the receiver as needed TO PLAY VIDEO TAPES

TO PLAY DVD STEP 1. Press the DVD button on Extron MLC Controller

STEP 2. Open DVD Player and insert DVD TO PLAY DVD DVD

STEP 3. Use the DVD Remote to navigate around the DVD Menu and play the DVD. (Must be behind podium pointing remote at VCR). NOTE: Must be in “TV” mode to see DVD movie in WIN TV window & send video to projector DVD

TO USE ELMO DOCUMENT CAMERA STEP 1. Press the “Document Camera” button on the Extron MLC 206 Controller

TO USE ELMO DOCUMENT CAMERA STEP 2. Un-lock Document camera drawer. A Document camera is permanently installed in the side drawer of the podium. Set- up lamps and use the camera per system training.

TO USE COMPUTER STEP 1. Press the PC button on Extron MLC Controller

TO USE COMPUTER STEP 2. Power on the Macintosh and use as usual Press the Power button on the back of the Mac

TO USE Optional Laptop Hookup STEP 1. Press the Laptop button on Extron MLC Controller

TO USE Optional Laptop Hookup STEP 2. Hook Laptop up to cable coming out of cable well on Podium VGA Video Cable Audio Cable

TO USE Optional Laptop Hookup STEP 3. Use Function Keys (specific to your laptop) to activate Laptop Display

SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE CHECKLIST  Remove All Tapes, DVD, Diskettes  Close and Lock Blue Box  Shutdown Macintosh Correctly  Power off Power Switch  Press and hold “Display Power” for three seconds to power off Extron Controller and LCD Projector  Lock Up Podium
