Best Practice City 101 Taipei: In July 2011, TAIPEI 101, at 508 meters, was awarded LEED Platinum certification for energy efficiency and environmental design, making it the tallest Green Building in the world. TAIPEI 101’s energy consumption is 30 percent lower than that of an average building, leading to annual energy cost savings of approximately TWD 20 million (USD 700,000) per year. The initial investment in energy improvement measures was approximately USD 400,000. The landmark building now achieves annual savings of 2,995 metric tons in reduced CO2 emissions.
