The Africa and Arabia ROC Regional projects dealing with Africa and the Mediterranean / Arab regions gathered their efforts to set up a global, Regional Operation Centre to support users and sites The ROC started around the original x-GUS support system of EUMEDGRID-Support to evolve into a more comprehensive portal in February/March 2011 URL: Supporting projects/initiatives are: – EUMEDGRID-Support [ ] EU-Med Support Action – CHAIN [ ] Coordination of Regional Initiatives worldwide – SAGrid South African Grid Initiative – ASREN Arab States Research and Education Networks – EPIKH EU Marie Curie Action for Exchanging Know How

Next Steps Some of the supporting initiatives and projects have limited lifetime – We need a clear, concrete strategy for the sustainability of the ROC A long term perspective Coordination among interested institutions and initiatives Re-structure the L1-L2 support system to be sustainable in future – Involving partners willing to maintain the ROC Update content / linked resources including latest developments – Starting by the Grid Identity Pool (Inter-Federation of Grid resources) – Information and links on Identity Federations – Information and links on Science Gateways
