CHOOSING A SIGNIFICANT PASSAGE  First thing you will need to do today:  Identify a significant (important) passage in TKAM that identifies a coming of age experience—think about the different experiences the children have gone through, and how that could affect coming of age.  What about Scout putting herself into Boo’s shoes at the end?  What about the trial scene affecting Jem so much? What does he begin to understand?  What about Scout identifying herself as a lady after being so defiant?  Identify if this passage is using coming of age through a character, through the setting, or through the conflict  Do a close reading on this passage – Next slide

CLOSE READING 1)Write down words you do not know; define them by writing your own definition based on the dictionary definition 2)Identify the characters involved, the setting of the passage, and the conflict.
