Introduction of Samsung Advanced Toner * (Polymerized Toner) For Channel Partner For Channel & Internal Use Only IT Solution Business Enterprise Sales & Marketing Group Samsung Electronics Company, Ltd.

What is Polymerized Toner? Benefits of Polymerized Toner Overview & Summary High Image Quality Gloss & Color Gamut Range Improvement Less Power Consumption Reduction of Paper Curl Higher Durability Reduced Consumable Size Eco-friendly Manufacturing Process Contents For Channel & Internal Use Only

What is Polymerized Toner?

* ㎛ = 1/1,000 mm, (Human Hair = 100 to 120 ㎛ ) Size : 6~7 ㎛ Polymerized Toner Conventional toner Size : 8~9 ㎛ Small, uniform, round toner particles Various, non-uniform, jagged toner particles Polymerized Toner vs. Conventional Toner Conventional Toner : Plastic materials (resin, pigment, wax) are melted together and then cooled into a brick, which is mechanically crushed to form non-uniform toner particles. Polymerized Toner : Toner particles are grown in water using a chemical reaction (aggregation) where we can control the size of the particles, producing smaller uniform toner particles. 4 Pigment Wax Latex Emulsion Brick AggregationCrushing Grinding / Jetting Classification Pigment Wax Coarse / Fine Resin Melt Mixing

Benefits of Polymerized Toner

6 Small and uniform toner particles make sharper images and lines - improving resolution. The higher wax content of Polymerized Toner improves the image gloss and durability. The printer transfers Polymerized Toner to the paper in a thinner uniform layer, which reduces the waste toner and requires a lower fusing temperature. (reducing power consumption) Polymerized Toner is also eco-friendly because it’s manufacturing process emits less CO2 and uses less power. Overview & Summary High Image Quality Long Lasting Durability Eco-friendly Manufacturing Process High Gloss Finish Less Power Consumption

7 * ㎛ = 1/1,000 mm, human hair = 100~120 ㎛ ** Circularity: the closer to “1”, the more perfect the sphere. Samsung Polymerized Toner (6.7um, spherical) Conventional Toner (8~9um, non-spherical) High Image Quality Small size (6.7 ㎛ *) and spherical (circularity** of 0.972) toner particles distribute more uniformly, which results in better image resolution and accurate colors. Conventional Toner Polymerized Toner Volume% Size

8 Improved Gloss & Color Gamut Range Core and shell structure, and functional ingredients, improve the gloss and color Gamut range. Improved Gloss Prints Magenta b a Green Red Yellow Blue Cyan Expanded Color Gamut range ConventionalToner CPT Toner powder of Core/Shell Structure Pigment Wax Shell Core

Polymerized Toner (6 to 7  m, spherical) Polymerized Toner (6 to 7  m, spherical) Conventional toner (8 to 9  m, non-spherical) Conventional toner (8 to 9  m, non-spherical) 9 Less Power Consumption High transfer efficiency creates a thin and uniform toner layer, which allows the printer to create less waste toner and to use a lower fusing temperature (reducing power consumption). 3 % to 9 % lower 180 to 190 ℃ ~ 175 ℃ Fusing Temperature

Polymerized Toner Toner Layer Wax Layer Conventional Toner Toner Layer Wax Layer Thicker Toner Layer Heating Roller Pressure Roller Paper Paper Curl Fuser 10 Reduction of Paper Curl The fused layer of Chemically Produced Toner is 20% thinner than it is with conventional toner, and the wax layer is twice as thick. Both of these changes decrease paper curl, and reduce the possibility of paper jams occurring in the fuser section. 20 % Thinner Layer Thicker Wax Layer Improved Paper Curl vs. Conventional Toner

11 Durability Outstanding durability from the improved fusing ability of Polymerized Toner, reduces the image destruction caused by folding the paper and sticking image to the back of piled document in preservation. Polymerized Toner Conventional Toner Wearing after folding prints

Eco-Friendly Manufacturing Process Manufacturing Polymerized Toner uses 35% less electricity compared to manufacturing conventional toner. This results in a significant reduction in CO CO 2 emission/Toner (Ratio) Conventional TonerPolymerized Toner Equipment Process CO 2 emission 35 % decrease
