Safety Precautions proper procedures for goggles, hair, and clothing By: Christine Gagnon, Leah Fulmore, and Sarah LeNoir

Goggles In order to ensure safety and prevent eye injuries in the Science lab, it is important to wear goggles when performing experiments. Not wearing goggles can cause injuries, such as the image above, due to chemicals mixing and causing explosions, and can even lead to blindness.

Hair It is important to make sure that your hair is tied back when doing any expriments. This keeps your hair from catching fire and getting in the way while performing experiments.

Clothing While in the Science lab, make sure to wear proper clothing. This means wearing the right footwear. Don’t wear flip flops, only sneakers or shoes that cover your toes. Don’t wear shorts; make sure to wear pants. Also don’t wear baggy clothing, shorts, or flammable clothing.
