The concept behind the objective The Commission recognizes the added value of social enterprise in Europe for several reasons Sometimes it is a matter of making things happen and bringing “people” together Knowledge Resources (€) Business

The project at a glance: the core WPs Where we are and should go Availability of resources Sustainability of ideas From theory to practice Evidence Stakeholders Database Guidelines Actors Database Playgrounds Actors Database Action Future of PPP in SEE

Examples: S-Academy The project supported the expansion to other areas of Slovenia and internationalization process (new office in the UK) Sector: Food&catering Driver: Slovenian entrepreneur Originating idea: J.O. Foundation Examples: Academy-S

Academy-S: success factors Entrepreneurial spirit from the beginning (no facilitations from public sector) Detailed business model (Slokar spent 3 months in calculating even how to optimize the purchase costs of salt and pepper!!!) Involvement of international stakeholders to review the idea (Jamie Oliver) Involvement of local entrepreneurs Give visibility only when economic success was clear Leverage on CSR of private companies and responsible supply chain

Academy-S: the involvement chain Entrepreneur Other entrepreneurs Finance Third sector VET system PUBLIC SECTOR IS NOT FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING THE PROJECT

The project supported creation of a new business area, new relationships and the raise of a new e-commerce platform (H- Farm Ict incubator) Sector: Accessories&Fashion Driver: Social Cooperative Originating idea: founders of the cooperative Examples: Rio Terà dei Pensieri

Rio terà dei pensieri: success factors Good Public Private Partnership: Female prison of the City of Venice and rio Terà Extremely committed female entrepreneurs (working the first 12 months for free!!) Willingness to expand activities and experiment new concepts (nothing has to stay the same for more than 6 months) Curiosity (they invest money in “picking ideas”) Only recently: busines model based approach

Rio Terà: the involvement chain Social workers Public Administration Enterprises (buyers) Distributors New actors (H Farm) – Styenda) PUBLIC SECTOR IS COMMITTED BUT HAS REDUCES FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE MINIMUM
