Reading Basal Readers Daily Five Fluency Folders Reading Homework – Monday thru Friday nights and one weekend night, 15 minutes, assignment sheet for students to complete based on a reading skill, parent signature once a week TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) - Formal Reading Assessment given at the beginning, middle, and end of the year District Goal – 90 words per minute on an on-grade level passage with mastery of comprehension
Language Arts English: DLR (Daily Language Review) Discussed and corrected daily, comes home on Thursday, quiz on Friday Spelling: Pre-test – given on Monday List – focus on phonetic pattern, may have regular or challenge list Test – given on Friday Writing: Writing Workshop –process writing format of pre-writing, drafting, revision, and sharing Language Arts English 30% Spelling 30% Writing 40%
Math Hands-On Manipulatives Textbooks—Envisions and Investigations Basic Addition and Subtraction facts—mastery of facts to 20 Homework – Tuesday night
Science Units of Study: Properties of Matter and Energy Looking at the Sky Weather and Seasons Tundra Biome Grassland Biome Natural World (rocks, soil, water, gas) Science Lab – volunteers needed for special activities in our Hands On Lab

Tardiness School starts at 8:00 A.M. If you aren’t in the classroom by the time the bell rings, please check in at the school office before coming to class. If you are tardy three times, the school will contact parents. Three tardies equals one absence.
Homework Reading – 15 minutes, Monday thru Friday Spelling – list comes home Monday on newsletter, test on Friday Math – Tuesday Night Language Arts – graded DLR paper comes home Thursday, quiz on Friday
