FSP Tracking System Overview Bill Beard / John Gallimore March 8, 2007 A presentation at the PFIT Post FSP Workshop by Bill Beard/John Gallimore on the FSP Tracking System.

FSP Tracking System Introduction Project sponsors  Provincial FRPA Implementation Team (PFIT)  Resource Tenures & Engineering Branch (RTEB)

FSP Tracking System Introduction Business case—a consistent process and system to track:  FSP submissions  FSP reviews, approvals, amendments, and retrievals  Forest development units (FDU) in the Land and Resource Data Warehouse (LRDW)  Stocking standards approved in FSPs through an update to RESULTS  Approved results and strategies spatially by linking them to approved FDUs

What does it do?

Using the FSP Tracking System Reduced cost of submitting plans Streamlined review and approval process Consistent submission and amendment process across districts Identification and tracking of obligations Approved FSPs/amendments accessible via a central, web-based repository

Vision for the FSP Tracking System

Next Steps for spatial linkage of Results and Strategies… Current Situation  No consistent format in FSP submissions  No spatial linkage of results and strategies in version 1.0

Next Steps for spatial linkage of Results and Strategies… Why consider this? Tool to aid balancing of objectives (FPPR s. 27) and establish proportional targets (FRPA s. 9) Tool for audits and reviews Analysis & preparation of new objectives or GAR orders

Next Steps for spatial linkage of Results and Strategies… Linkage between FSP targets and wood supply modeling for TSR and strategic analysis Others?

Next Steps for spatial linkage of Results and Strategies… How could we do this? Linking to licensee or BC timber sales systems Enabling Regulations to require a consistent format for FSPs

Next Steps for spatial linkage of Results and Strategies… Is doing this worth the effort?

Next Steps for spatial linkage of Results and Strategies… We need your help.
