Academic Performance Level: 4’s = exceeding (above grade level) 3’s = meeting 2’s = progressing 1’s = emerging 0’s = critical need Only the standards are listed on the report card. For example: Names positive character traits of historical figures & government leaders Your child may score a 3 for this standard after mastering 1 historical figure (i.e. Christopher Columbus), but may score lower or higher under this standard for a different historical figure (i.e. James Madison)

In Reading /Language Arts/Writing, students will learn:  The conventions of standard English  Identify author’s purpose, voice & explain how it impacts the experience  Demonstrate understanding of figurative language  How to write different texts for various purposes (narrative, informational, and opinion pieces)  How to conduct short research projects that build knowledge about a topic Note: Science and Social Studies will be integrated during ELA time.

Read for a minimum 30 minutes daily Practice First in Math once distributed Other assigned homework assignments / projects Check student agenda nightly Monday Folder Homework is a key part of student success. It is an excellent way to reinforce skills and concepts taught in the classroom.

When positive behaviors are noticed throughout the building, faculty and staff may give the student’s a positive paw. 4 th Grade Teachers are using ClassDojo for behavior management. If you have not signed up to receive feedback and messages, please see your child’s teacher. It is imperative that you are communicating with your child’s teacher.

Students MUST be in class by 7:45 to be marked present. Students arriving after 7:45 must be checked in through the front office for check-in by parent/guardian. Please be mindful that instruction begins at 7:55. If there is a change in transportation, a signed note from the parent must be provided or teachers will follow the original transportation routine for your child.

What is it? AR is a program for students to take comprehension tests over books they have read. They will earn points and receive rewards upon reaching a goal.

 All Content Areas Will Be Tested  Selected-Response [multiple-choice] all content areas evidence-based selected response in ELA  Constructed-Response [open-ended] ELA and mathematics  Extended-Response [writing] ELA and mathematics

 Decide what you want to cover during your study time.  Find a quiet place to study and stay focused. Watching television while you are trying to study is not a good idea.  Take a short break when needed.  Allow more study time for harder subjects.  Keep a dictionary, ruler, pencils, erasers, paper, note cards, and highlighters handy.

 Parents can view grades online via Parent Portal on Infinite Campus, however, the system is not fully operational. Please allow approximately 2 weeks before trying to access grades.  If you haven’t already done so, please contact the front office for your log in information.
