Definition of a good standard A good standard is a characterised by agreement via negotiation, approval and recognition by a standardisation body, applicability, availability, support of interoperability (where appropriate), and needs to solve a real problem in order to achieve wideness of adoption and provide ease of use for end-users (preferred sentence – 7/11 votes) Group 1

List of the criteria for a good standard (in order of priority 1: highest - 5: lowest) 1.Agreement via negotiation 2.Recognised by standardisation body 3.Applicable/viable 4.Availability 5.Support interoperability where appropriate 6.Standard to solve a real problem 7.Wideness of adoption Plus: Transparency; suit every party concerned; ease of use for consumers/end-users; added value to existing state of the art; room for flexibility when useful
