Pocket PC Phone Edition devices are combination handheld computers and cellular phones. They are offered through wireless service providers such as T-Mobile and Verizon. Pocket PC Phone Edition devices use the Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System and offer portability and access to personal productivity tools including , contact lists, and your calendar no matter where you are. Topic in this guide include: Dial from the Phone Keypad Dial from Contacts Add a Contact to Speed Dial Use Speed Dial Use Conference Calling Pocket PC Status Indicators Connect a Wireless Bluetooth Headset Connect your Pocket PC to the Internet Use the Global Address List Force Keypad Lock Troubleshooting Dial from the Phone Keypad From the Start menu, tap Phone. Tap the number you wish to call. Tap Talk or press Send. Dial from Contacts You can make calls directly from your contacts folder. From the Start menu, tap Contacts. Tap and hold the contact phone number, and then tap Call Work, Call Home, or Call Mobile. To make a call from an open contact, tap the phone number Add a Contact to Speed Dial You can store up to 99 speed dial entries on your Pocket PC Phone. From the Start menu, tap Phone. Tap Menu, and then tap Speed Dial. 1 2

From the phone keypad, dial the first number. When you have connected, tap Hold. Dial the second number. Tap Talk, tap Menu, and then tap Conference. Use Conference Calling You can create conference calls for you and two other parties Tap Menu, and then tap New. Select a contact from the contact list, and then tap OK. The contact is assigned a speed dial number. 3 4 Note To turn on the speakerphone, on the phone screen, tap Speaker On. Use Speed Dial Quickly dial a phone number you have added to your speed dial list. 1 2 From the Start menu, tap Phone. To dial a one-digit speed dial number, tap and hold the single keypad key. -OR- To dial a two-digit speed dial number, tap the first digit and then tap and hold the second digit.

Connect a Wireless Bluetooth Headset For hands-free operation, use a Bluetooth wireless headset with your Pocket PC. From the Start menu, tap Settings. On the Settings screen, tap the Connections tab, and then tap Bluetooth. On the Bluetooth page, tap Turn on Bluetooth. Tap the Devices tab, and then tap New Partnership. Note Your Bluetooth headset should be in "discoverable" mode. Consult your headset manual on how to enable this mode. On the Select a Bluetooth Device page, highlight your headset, and then tap Next. In the Passkey box, type the passkey, tap Next, and then tap OK. Note The passkey can be found in the headset manual. On the Partnership Settings page, if you prefer, edit the name of your headset. Verify the Hands Free check box is selected, and then tap Finish Pocket PC Status Indicators

On the home page of your Pocket PC, tap Outlook , and then tap New. On the Outlook page, verify the cursor is in the To box, tap Menu, and then tap Add Recipient. Use the Global Address List You can search the Global Address List (GAL) and add anyone to the contacts on your device On the home page of your Pocket PC, tap Contacts. Tap Menu, and then tap Find Online. On the Find Online page, in the text box, type the person’s name, address or office location. Tap Find. Note If your search turns up more than 100 results, you will get a message notifying you that only 100 results can be displayed. Click OK. Tap Menu, and then tap Add to Contacts to add the person to your contacts list. 5 Someone from the Global Address List 1 2 Connect your Pocket PC to the Internet To access your corporate account and the Internet with your Pocket PC, you need to configure a data connection. The configuration steps vary depending on which mobile phone service provider you use. In the search results, highlight the person’s name and tap View to see more information about the person.

Tap Menu, and then tap Find Online On the Find Online page, in the Find box, type the recipients name, address or office location. Click Find. Note If your search turns up more than 100 results, you will get a message notifying you that only 100 results can be displayed. On the Select a Contact page, in the search results, highlight the recipients name and click Select. Then proceed with drafting and sending your message. Synchronize your mobile device with your Exchange server to complete sending the message. 6 Note If Exchange ActiveSync is configured to send outgoing items immediately, step 6 will not be necessary. Turn off Radio Transmitter Tap the signal strength indicator. On the Phone window, tap Wireless Manger. On the Wireless Manager screen, tap Phone. Under Phone, On changes to Off. Your wireless cell phone transmitter is turned off. You can not make or receive calls

Force Keypad Lock Locking your Pocket PC keypad when not in use is highly recommended. This prevents unintentional dialing and incorrect PIN attempts (After 5 incorrect PIN attempts, information on your Pocket PC will automatically be erased). To lock the keypad, on the Home screen, tap Device Unlocked. To unlock the keypad, on the Home screen, tap Unlock, and then on the Unlock screen, tap Unlock. Note If keypad lock is not enabled on your Pocket PC by default, on the Start menu, tap Settings, tap Today. On the Settings page, tap the Items tab, and then select the Device Lock check box. Troubleshooting For voice and server related issues, please contact your Mobile Operator. For IT Supported feature related issues, please contact your IT department. Windows Mobile devices rely on multiple sources of technology to function in order for an optimal experience.
