New orientation for the CERP cluster Discussion session Dr Florent Frederix, Head of Sector DG INFSO D4

New scope of cluster in 2008? Browser ... Internet People connected eCommerce eBusiness Online banking eLearning eGovernment Video on demand Communities Online office ….. Internet of Services Services connected Location of objects Object tracking Sensing the world Ambient intelligence Virtual world Object discovery ….. Internet of OBJECTS Objects connected Applications on the Internet 1998 Time 2006

CERP scope in the context of Internet of Things (2008) Automatic identification, Sensor networks Physical and logical objects (order, invoice, transfer, tickets,…) Object information management (synchronisation, distributed data, multiple representations, migration …) Context awareness (Location, ambient intelligence) Layered structures (Physical world, processes, objects, connectivity, compatibility,..) Security, end to end management A need for a new framework exists ! Object needs a definition !

What about the AITPLM cluster ? The approach towards interoperability and networked enterprises is currently guided by a process perspective. However, the need for product lifecycle management empowered by unique instance identification calls for an object perspective in the retrieval, sharing and management of information, representing a paradigm shift for enterprise systems. The challenge ahead is to integrate these two perspectives and ensure a seamless interaction between the Internet of Things/Objects and the Internet of Services, opening up new horizons for interoperability and collaboration in a networked environment. Taken from the AITPLM 2008 vision document:
