Agenda  What is an EH&S program?  Why have an EH&S program?  How does one Develop an EH&S Program?  What should you expect from implementation?  What does Goodrich expect from your implementation?

What is an EH&S Program? A good EH&S Program:  Sustains compliance with EH&S regulations  Minimizes the organization’s environmental footprint  Incorporates continuous improvement  Manages health & safety risk  Every EH&S program is unique and doesn’t have to be a mirror image of the Goodrich plan.

EH&S Categories A good EH&S program addresses:  Hazards - those things with the potential to cause harm from what we do or that we’re exposed to  ‘Risk’, includes of the likelihood of the hazardous event taking place.  If there’s no likelihood of this hazard being realized, there’s no risk.  Risks can be prioritized by ranking both the nature of the potential harm and, the likelihood of the hazardous event occurring.

“Best Practice” EH&S Program Elements 1 - Management Leadership, Communication & Accountability 2 - Legal Compliance 3 - Operational Risk Management 4 - Communication, Participation and Competence 5 - Documents and Records 6 - Emergency Preparedness 7 - Incident Reporting and Investigation 8 – EH&S in Design 9 - Site Management Self-Assessment and Review 10 - Continuous Monitoring and Improvement

Why is an EH&S Program Beneficial?  Employee Safety and Morale  Creates Responsibility  Promotes Company Pride  Reduces Absenteeism  Reduces Injuries and Track Lost Time  Improves Ergonomics  Increases Productivity  Compliance and Emergency Planning  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)  Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  Insurance Requirements  Fire and First Aid Preparedness  Natural Disasters

Why is an EH&S Program Beneficial?  Improve Quality and Reduce Total Cost  Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM)  Insurance Claims  Repairs  Fines  Process Discipline and Proactive Countermeasures  Environmental  Energy Conservation  Chemicals  Recycling  Waste Water and Pollution  Sustainability  Public Perception  Customers, Suppliers, and Local Community Continued

Potential Impact of NOT Having an EH&S Program  Employee Injuries  Insurance Rate Increase  Late Deliveries  Quality Issues  Negative Public Press  Legal Liability  Possible Loss of Contracts  Damage to Company Assets  Temporary to Permanent Closure of Facility  OSHA and EPA Fines

EH&S Infractions and Fines  OSHA compliance is a basic requirement for all businesses, and failure to comply can lead to very heavy fines, and even prison terms.  Top Ten Fines Imposed by OSHA on Small Businesses: 1 – Employee Safety – Total $6,601, – Specific Excavation Requirements – $1,625,293 3 – Fall Protection – $5,417,592 4 – Aerial Lifts – $1,210, Ladders – $1,245,494 6 – Wiring Design and Protection – $461, Head Protection – $747,099 8 – Training Requirement – $491,164 9 – Training – $666, – Hazard Communications – $175,265

Creating an EH&S Program Each Safety and Health Program should be tailored to fit the company, to blend with its unique operations and culture, and to help employers maintain a system that continually addresses workplace hazards. An effective program should, at a minimum, include the following:  Self-Assessment to Identify and Document Current Conditions  Management Roles, Responsibilities, and Accountability  Employee Participation and Ownership  An established EH&S Policy  Documented Procedures  A Calendar for ongoing Risk Assessments

Next Steps Our Expectations:  Recognize that an EH&S program can be beneficial to your company  Share EH&S awareness presentation with your management team  Identify Opportunities  Self-assessment  Visit links to resources  Red flag major problems  Assign an EH&S leader  Start developing a plan

Three Month Check-In Our expectations:  Plan complete and in place  Calendar for activities and training  Self-assessment completed  Identified major opportunities  Target date for when EH&S program will be fully implemented

One Year Check-In Our Expectations:  A formal written program for EH&S  Documented objective evidence of EH&S activities  Visual controls to alert employees of hazards  EH&S documents accessible to employees  Employees are actively involved  Initial annual self-assessment  Your schedule to review your EH&S program for updates and continuous improvements.

Summary  The Goodrich Corporation is committed to achieving excellence in EH&S.  This means that we comply with all laws and regulations, and that we provide our customers with products that exceed their expectations.  Doing so requires that we ask our suppliers to be committed to EH&S as a part of their culture.  This awareness training was designed to present to you what an EH&S program consists of, why it’s beneficial for your company to have one, and how you can begin an implementation plan.  The next step is yours. Let’s agree on a date when we can discuss initial activities.
