DISTANCE AND MIDPOINT

DISTANCE  Given any two points on a coordinate plane you can find the distance between the two points using the distance formula (it’s on your formula chart).  DISTANCE FORMULA

EXAMPLES

MIDPOINT  You can find the midpoint of a segment by calculating the average of the x-coordinates and the average of the y-coordinates of its endpoints.  MIDPOINT FORMULA

EXAMPLE

DAY 2  Sometimes you might be given the distance between two points on a coordinate plane, but not told complete coordinates of one point. We can use the distance formula to find the missing endpoint.

EXAMPLE

MIDPOINT DAY 2  Sometimes you are given the midpoint and one endpoint. You can use the midpoint formula to work backwards to find the segments second endpoint. 
