FORWARD The Raptor X Wireless Waterway demonstration shows the practicality of establishing and maintaining network connectivity to multiple vessels in a NLOS scenario using VHF and UHF TV Band Spectrum. Inland Waterways Transport play a critical role in moving energy, food and industrial goods globally. Operationally maintaining contact with these vessels is critical for the safety and security of crew and cargo. On June 24 and 25, 2013 demonstration and field testing of pre-production Raptor X Broadband Radios took place on the Ohio River, centered at Georgetown, PA. This report provides an overview of test and evaluation objectives, measurement configuration and resulting performance field performance. Copyright 2015 Metric Systems Corporation. Trial Performance Summary (see Figure 1) The Raptor X Broadband Radio provided continuous broadband connectivity over a 4.19 mile (6.72 km) stretch of the Ohio river based at Georgetown, PA. The average full-duplex payload data rate between the base station and work boat ranged from 2.5 to 3 Mbps over a majority of the ship’s track. Payload Data Rates dipped to 760 Kbps at up and down river service end-points, (Location 1 and Channel 2 End-point). These data rates are sufficient to support a wide range of corporate IT requirements, e.g. video conferencing, VoIP, file and messaging. Quantitative data clearly showed the superior ability of White Space spectrum together with Metric Systems’ Raptor X to deliver robust and sustainable connectivity in non-line-of-sight and uneven terrain. Trial Objectives Demonstrate continuous broadband IP connectivity over a reasonable span of the Ohio River in line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios. Back-up demonstration results with quantitative real-time data logs to validate operation and support increased speed and service capabilities (see Figures 4,5). Proprietary Information Trial Set-Up (See figure ) Base Station – A Raptor X dual, parallel-channel White Space TV band base station along with two (2)120 ° sector antennas were installed at the host operations building at Georgetown, PA along the Ohio River. Maritime Mobile Station – a Raptor X dual, parallel channel mobile station was platformed on a river work boat. Two (2) Omni directional vertical antennas were installed on the work boat pilot house deck railing providing port and starboard hemispherical coverage. SUMMARY 5

Performance Demonstrations Streaming multiple HD video downloads ( provided a qualitative measure of performance. IPerf throughput measurements were continuously run to assess throughput vs. latitude/longitude.
