Recidivism rates are of one the key goals that is reported to Congress regarding youth offender programs. Your information will be used to establish a fair baseline for future grantees. Reducing recidivism among Juvenile offenders is an important goal of your grants: Recidivism Calculation
The youthful offender must enroll in the program within 3 months of being released from a juvenile correction facility or being placed on probation. Recidivism Criteria
Only include enrollees who have reached the 12-month point since their release from a juvenile correctional facility or placement on probation that preceded entry into the program. Calculation of Recidivism Rate
The Recidivism calculation only includes youth who have been convicted of a criminal offense by Juvenile Court prior to entering the program. Recidivism Criteria
3 months of release from correctional facility Entry into the program after criminal offense 12 months in program Youth Offender Program
Calculation of Recidivism Rate In capturing recidivism after enrollment in your program, the recidivism calculation will not include: 1. violations of parole or probation, 2. referrals for non-criminal offenses such traffic citations, or 3. referrals for status offenses such as truancy.
Recidivism and non-recidivating enrollees will need to be verified in your case files. Verification
All enrollees who meet the above- mentioned criteria must be included in the recidivism calculatio n Verification
Official records from juvenile court are the preferred source of verification.
Verification Less preferred but acceptable sources of verification include: 1. a signed statement by a parent. 2. a signed statement by a case manager.
