Occupational Safety & Health Administration This act was enacted in 1970 to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for working people They set and enforce standards in workplaces They provide training, outreach, education and assistance These guidelines are used for areas of public occupation, but can be used for residential purposes as well 2 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.

Application These standards are used in public use spaces and are most evident during new construction There are inspectors, whose sole purpose is to verify that OSHA standards have been satisfied Most construction managers, foremen, or leaders on job sites have some type of OSHA training or certification 3 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.

Notable Areas Look around your school or public building, you may notice some OSHA standards being utilized Are there wires running across the floor? This is a violation of OSHA standards Is there anything blocking the exit doors in a room? This is also a violation 4 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.

Tour Time! Let’s apply your new-found knowledge and look at some standards applied to our building! 5 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.
