THE POPULATION AND HOW IT CHANGES
POPULATION Population is all the people who live in a certain place (a village, a city, a country, the world, etc)
We categorize the population by age: Children are less than 16 years old Adults are between 17 and 64 years old Old people are older than 65 years old
THE POPULATION CHANGES
The population of a place is always changing. These changes happen because of the: - Birth rate - Death rate - Immigration - Emigration
Birth rate It is the number of people who are born. It increases the population.
Death rate It is the number of people who die. It decreases the population.
Immigration -It is when people arrive from another country. -The people who arrive are called immigrants. -It increases the population.
Emigration -It is when people leave a country to live in another country. -The people who leave are called emigrants. -It decreases the population
Holidays and traditions
Tradition is a custom which is passed down from generation to generation and is mantained through time
Customs depends on: THE TYPE OF PLACE: If it is a village or city, if it is isolated or well communicated, etc.

DIFFERENT TRADITIONS
GASTRONOMY Traditions depend on the food available in a region and the recipes people have to prepare it.
HOLIDAYS AND FESTIVITIES Some of them celebrate historical evens, some religious occasions, etc.
TRADITIONAL COSTUMES Their look depends on the climate of the region, the traditional jobs, the materials available, etc.
MUSIC, CRAFT AND SPORTS They celebrate daily customs of the people, historical evens, ways of life, etc.

TYPES OF WORK There are three sectors Primary Secondary Tertiary That people work in one or another depends on the natural resources in each place
PRIMARY SECTOR Jobs in which workers obtain natural products: -Agriculture -Stock farming -Mining -Forestry
SECONDARY SECTOR Jobs in which workers transform natural products: -Craft (pottery, carpentery, etc.) -Indrustry (food, construction, textile, cars, etc.)
TERTIARY SECTOR Jobs in which workers provide services for other people: -Health -Education -Transport -Communication. etc.
