Welcome to your new laptop!

Never eat or drink around your laptop. Aw, man! Don’t eat or drink at your laptop. Liquids and small bits of food can damage the keyboard, and even stop your computer from working. If it breaks you might lose all of your information.

Keep your laptop in your backpack when it’s not being used. Laptops are breakable! Drop it, and it WILL break, even in your backpack. Act as if your backpack is hauling something fragile— don’t drop, toss, or put too much pressure on it. You can also use a backpack with a padded area just for a laptop.

Love your laptop! The safest way to transport your laptop around the classroom is with the lid closed and with two hands. Always carry your laptop with the lid closed and with two hands.

Be nice to your keyboard. Do not smash keys. Want to work on your electrical circuit? Need to write your History essay? Don’t pop the keys off your keyboard…or slam your fingers down hard as you type…or push down on the keyboard. Doing so may ruin your keyboard! Be Nice! Do not remove keys.

Oops! Don’t open your laptop too far or the hinges that hold it together can snap apart. This can also crack the screen. Never open your laptop past its limit.

Never pick up the laptop by the screen. Oh no! If you carry the laptop by the screen, the screen and hinges can break. The laptop could drop and cause a lot of damage. You could lose your homework and research, too.

Clean the Screen Never use anything other than a dry, cotton cloth to clean your computer screen.

Always Power OFF! Always make sure that your laptop is shut-down before you put it in your backpack or in the LSU.

How do YOU care and handle your laptop? Can you think of more ways to care and handle your laptop? Share your thoughts with the class.
