An article or story has two essential components: 1)The main idea -usually found in the topic sentence or introductory paragraph -it can be written or implied 2)The supporting details

Popcorn is a healthy snack. It is low in fat, low in sugar and contains little sodium. The snack is a natural byproduct from nature. Unlike other manufactured snacks, it retains much of its nutritional value.

Lantern fish live near the bottom of the ocean where it is very dark, so they carry their own lights. The lights look like tiny glowing pearls. They are called photophores.
