Oktoberfest – in Munich, every year from the middle of September to the beginning of October. Rhine in Flames – first Saturday in May, along the bankside of the Rhine river. Luther’s Wedding – in June, celebrates the marriage of Martin Luther to Katharina von Bora in 1525.
Formula 1 – the number one motorsport event in the world has a stop at the Nürburgring. Bach Festival – in Leipzig Bach’s music is played throughout the city and in St. Thomas’ church. Kiel Sailing Regatta – sailors come from allover over the world to Kiel every year.
Christkindlmarkt – The shopkeepers drape the streets with lights and create an idyllic Christmas village allover Germany. Carnival – takes place seven weeks before Easter, everybody dresses up in elaborate masks and costumes. New Year at Bradenburg Gate – Silvester, as it is known in Germany, live music is played throughout the night and a spectacular fireworks at midnight.
