Here is a description of them: These rifles are Springfield Armory rifles. One is from the 1940's one is from the 1950's. Neither stock is original but the stocks are in good condition. The rifles have a good Parkerized finish and all internal parts are "correct" for the serial numbers. The actions are in good mechanical condition and the barrels reasonably good with minimum throat erosion but THEY CAN NOT BE FIRED. They have spiked and purposely damaged gas ports. If fired, they will hurt someone and/or it will hurt the rifle. The CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program), which exclusively receives and sells all M1 and 1903 Springfield rifles being disposed of from the military arsenals would grade them as "Field Grade" which is "Fair to Good". However, they would NOT SELL them in their current condition of being spiked for liability reasons. One could reasonably expect to spend $300 per rifle to put them back in working condition. CAUTION... this is not work that is done at the kitchen table with mail order parts....take them to a gunsmith. The pressure loads inside a typical M1 chamber and barrel will be in the 50,000+ psi range when the round is fired. This has to drop to 6000 psi at the gas port while the bullet is in that last 1.5 inches of the barrel. If the gas port is not absolutely correct, the operating rod can become a spear or a grenade or both. If you wish to bid on these rifles, please submit your sealed bid to me. Place it in the Commanders Suggestion Box over the glass cases. The Executive Board will open them and notify the highest bidder after the October Executive Board Meeting MAD- Potluck & Chicken 8-11AM Breakfast Steak & Eggs 8-11AM Breakfast Country Fried Steak & Eggs 1800 Bike Night Dinner – Chili
