Title 1

What is Title 1?  A federal program to help all students get a good education and meet academic standards.  Part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of  Targeted at meeting the needs of the neediest children Number/percent participating in free/reduced lunch program  Focused on reading, math & science (NCLB tested areas)

Current Reading Instruction Common Core Harcourt - Trophies- K-2, Story Town- 3-5 American Reading – 100 Book Challenge Reading Resource Teachers - Title 1 funds Fundations - grades 1 & 2 Corrective Reading - grades 4-5 Wilson Reading - grades 4-5 Soar to Success – 3-5 Just Words – 3-5 Special Education Use of paraprofessionals

Current Math Instruction Common Core using multiple resources Math Resource Teachers - Title 1 funds Computer Programs – Building Blocks (PK-1), Dream Box Learning (2-5), Conceptua (Fractions – 3-5), FASTT Math (1-5) Special Education Use of paraprofessionals

Current Science Program County Developed Hands-On Science Units - grades K-5
