Summit Elementary School Little Free Library WAEA Art Educator Idea Exchange à la Speed Dater/Jill La Grange

Summit Art and Design Club decided to create a Little Free Library for Summit School and the community because they wanted to promote literacy and art.

Sketchbooks too!!! Art and Design Club designed sketchbooks for the Summit School Little Free Library. Sketchbooks will be available for each student, community member and parent to create a work of art for the Little Free Library.

All Summit students and teachers vote for their favorite Little Free Library design!

Little Free Library Organization made signs for our Summit Elementary School Little Free Library. Hooray!!!

Next Steps: Mr. Knott has graciously offered to build the Little Free Library based on the selected student design Artists will embellish the Little Free Library and place library in front of building. With Our Own Two Hands will raise money and accept book donations for Summit’s Little Free Library Librarian will teach students about lending libraries, creating a collection and book evaluations. Summit’s Little Free Library will be listed on Google Maps for all to visit!!!

Summit Librarian, Alyssa, teaches all students about other Little Free Libraries throughout the world, purpose of the Little Free Library, how to use the library, how to donate books to the library and the cataloging of books in three categories: picture books, sketchbooks and chapter books.
