Irvine Valley College Programs like Early Bird encourage high school seniors to choose our colleges early with priority registration and access to services. 60%-70% of First Time College Students come from one of the 4 Main Unified School Districts

Irvine Valley College Both colleges have increased their online course offerings in response to student demand.

Irvine Valley College Coming next year….Fall 2008 numbers show a big increase in full- time faculty at each college. The total number of Faculty has remained relatively stable over the last five years.

Irvine Valley College Classified Staff at both campuses grew over the last 5 years. Over 30% of classified employees are of minority ethnicities, the highest among employee classifications. The total number of Administrators/Managers has remained stable over last five years.

Irvine Valley College The total number of computers at each college has increased 20% over the last five years. More students have access to computers on campus.

Irvine Valley College Total square footage and the instructional square footage have increased at both colleges. Over the last two years buildings such as a new Performing Arts Center and the Village classrooms have increased instructional space.

Irvine Valley College Approximately 83% of the Irvine Valley College budget goes to salary and benefits. Approximately 77% of the Saddleback College budget goes to salary and benefits.

Where the rubber meets the road… The College Perspective

 Evaluation: provides objective assessment of instructional achievements in key measureable areas.  Underscores both strengths and weaknesses.  Identifies instructional and student support areas for both commendation and creative attention.  Strategic Planning: provides needed data for institutional planning in the areas of outreach & marketing, student support, and academic programs.  Supports the need for new services or programs to address institutional weaknesses;  Offers a justification for financing the new programs or services;  Suggests a time frame for achieving the targeted goals. How do the Colleges Use this Report? Irvine Valley College

 This report is used by the Planning and Budget Council (PBC), the strategic planning groups and shared governance in planning and decision making. It is viewed as data that highlights Saddleback’s successes and also areas where improvement is needed.  Examples ◦ Institutional Effectiveness Committee  The IE Committee uses this data in Program Reviews and Student Learning Outcomes.  ESL Department The report helped identify areas in the curriculum that is needed so they can measure students progression though the ESL course sequence. ◦ Enrollment Management Committee  The Distance Education Committee is using the data to tackle the difficult issue of student attrition and success in online courses.
