Initiatives Committee April 2010 Update

2 Subcommittee Program Updates Subject: Continuing the Journey Nov 2009 event Hi there, I just wanted to give an update - I attended the November 2009 Continuing the Journey event in NYC. There were not too many women my age from the class of 1998, but it was a wonderful group and it really, really helped improve my confidence. I was so discouraged and convinced I was unmarketable. With all of the encouragement and resume workshop support, I felt so much stronger. After I got home from the workshop, I contacted someone who had already interviewed me and rejected me for a job a few months earlier to see if she could help me be considered for another job in the organization I had applied for. It worked! I got an interview and a job offer just a few weeks later. I started my new job on January 4th. I was told by several people that I never would have been considered for the job without the recommendation of the people who had originally turned me down. And I would not have had the confidence to approach them and then successfully interview without the BC workshop. I know it's a lot of work to put together these kind of events, and I just wanted to share the difference it made in my life. Thank you, Meredith MacDonald
