Serving society Stimulating innovation Supporting legislation Workshop on the INSPIRE registry and registers Antonio Rotundo – Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale (AgID)
Registry developments and plans Involved organisations / governance Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale (AgID) is responsible for the implementation of the Italian Digital Agenda; performs many activities for increasing interoperability of the information systems of Public sector; in the INSPIRE context, is a LMO responsible for the National Catalogue for Spatial Data (RNDT) and its discovery service. In those activities every PSI organisation is involved. Scope INSPIRE, NSDI and other sectors such as e-government. Content In the RNDT application a set of “registers” (misusing the term) are already managed: –codelists –coordinate reference systems –themes and keywords In the e-government sector: –Public Administrations Registry (available in SPCData web portal) platform for smart communities in which a set of registers could be identified as relevant for that scope.
Technical overview Technologies / software used RNDT Self-developed solution based on web services implemented using Java technology – web server Apache HTTPD and Apache Tomcat – Application server Jboss - DB PostgreSQL - Hibernate SPCData Openlink Virtuoso – D2RQ - Apache Tomcat Software Licence GPL / Apache license / PostgreSQL license Access & re-use conditions ? Open access; controlled access for inserting, updating or deleting records Open access Standards used ISO 19115/19119/TS19139 – OGC CSW SKOS/RDF – OWL – SPARQL – DCAT - Core Vocabularies – ORG – FOAF – DC Formats and APIs supported HTML – XML CSW RDF/XML – JSON – CSV – Ntriples SPARQL endpoint
Connecting registries Existing connections to other registries At the moment, there is no connection between the mentioned “registries”, but such activity is planned along this year connections using URI in SPCData Requirements for connections to the INSPIRE registry? the design of mentioned registries following ISO Standards is an issue that will be addressed; the exchange formats could be XML and RDF/XML (but other ones can be considered)
Future development of INSPIRE registry How are you using / planning to use the INSPIRE registry (software or service)? INSPIRE registry isn’t used yet, but it could become the reference registry for the applications Which additional features would you like to see? additional formats such as RDF/XML; access through SPARQL; Which additional content would you like to see? connections to coordinate reference system registry (e.g. EPSG) codelists used in INSPIRE metadata (also those required for interoperability)
