Frank McCourt  Frank caught typhoid fever when he was 10 and was quarantined in a fever hospital.  “Typhoid Fever” is his autobiographical account of the disease.  “Typhoid Fever” is an excerpt from McCourt’s autobiographical novel Angela’s Ashes (named after his mother). –The novel chronicles his life growing up in poverty- stricken Limerick, Ireland. –It won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize and was on bestseller lists for weeks.  Died in July 2009 of melanoma.
