What will happen during IBDP1? Autumn term 2011 Open House at Lund University November 15, 22 (D-day) & 29 SACO fair, Malmö November 23 (the school gives the students tickets, they must ask for permission to leave class) Scottish University fair, at Katte November 7th American University tour, at Katte November 11th Spring term 2012 Deadline for registration to Högskoleprovet February 15th Open House at Malmö Högskola March 22nd Info meeting apply to Denmark w. 7 Info meeting apply to UK May

Costs and fees? Higher education are free of charge in: Sweden, the Scandinavian countries & Scotland (if EU-citizen) USA: from SEK/year – SEK/year England: approx SEK/year (new from autumn term 2011)

Applicaiton to UK 5 choices in total, ONE application to all Only 4 choices for medicine Either Oxford or Cambridge 1 personal statement - 1 reference letter No tuition fee in Scotland, in England max 9000 £ a year. CSN (student loan) will almost cover all costs – If EU-citizen

Appication to US universities Start the application process one year before the student wants to start his/her studies. Apply individually to each university. 1 essay - 2 reference letters (in general)

Application to US universities TOEFL - tests students’ English proficiency Almost all require the SAT or the ACT, and at more selective institutions the SAT Subject Test. SAT: ACT: You can do these tests at Malmö Borgarskola EducationUSA Student corps –> Student group at Katte

Application to universities in Denmark Deadline for application March 15 in IBDP2 8 choices in total University of Copenhagen - The University of Copenhagen offers more than 500 individual courses taught in English at either bachelor (BA) or master (MA) level each semester. Copenhagen international business school bachelor programmes taught in English, for example: International Business & Politics.

Application to Swedish universities 2 times a year 15 th of April  to start in the Autumn term (most of all courses and programmes start in the Autumn term) October  to start in the Spring term (don’t forget that it could be easier to get a place in the spring term, especially medicine.) 20 choices in total Application online at No personal statement, no reference letter, no charge.

Student loan (CSN) For Swedish universities Grant :-/month Loan (if Swedish citizen) :-/month Totally :-/month The students can receive student aid for up to 6 years (12 semesters) They can also apply for student aid if studying abroad.

Application to Universities in Sweden The students have to get a complete IB Diploma from Exam. IBDP students in application group (together with all students from national Swedish programs) -Group 1 = Final grades from Exam -Group 2 = Retake or grades from Komvux/NTI -Group 2  Much greater competition for places than in Group 1. Meritpoäng -Information about Meritpoäng will be sent out to the students as soon as we receive the new information sheet from VHS (Verket för Högskoleservice)

Specific entry requirements.. at Swedish universities …means that a certain level in a specific subject is required. (At least grade 4.) - differ between countries and universities, make sure you’re updated when you’re applying. For example in Sweden: Economics, in general: Math Studies, Civics A Medicine: Math SL/HL, Physics SL/HL, Chemistry SL/HL, Biology SL/HL Engineering, in general: Math SL/HL, Physics SL/HL, Chemistry SL/HL

Swedish... Swedish B is not enough to be able to entry Swedish Universities If the student doesn't study Swedish A: - Swedish as a second language A + B at Katte - TISUS (Test i Svenska för Universitetsstudier) in IBDP2 - Svenska A + Svenska B at Komvux - Courses in Swedish at the university one or two terms: -Lund - Malmö
