NCAA ELIGIBILITY

How to start NCAA process? Student registers in sophomore year. Student takes the ACT and/or SAT junior year (using score recipient code 9999). At the end of the junior year, student asks the high school to send his/her high school transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center. If the student is on an active IRL (Institutional Request List), the NCAA Eligibility Center will perform a preliminary certification using the student’s six-semester transcript.  It is helpful to know where the student is academically; as it can help guide future course selection and/or academic effort. On/after April 1 of the student’s senior year, he/she can request a final amateurism certification.

How is tuition paid for? (Financial Aid Night will be available in January) Scholarships (Local, private, and colleges)*merit, athletic, or need based Loans (banks, government subsidized (FAFSA), and government unsubsidized (FAFSA) Grants (free) *must file FAFSA to qualify for California Grants Employment Opportunities (seek out on campus or work study programs)

WUE -Western Undergraduate Exchange ( Part of college application) WUE is a reduced out of state tuition program Reduced tuition is not automatically awarded Check handout and website ( Some participating schools have specific major, GPA, or other requirements Sample participants: Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington Arizona State University, Portland State, Colorado State
