EtherNet/IP Profile Switch Sales Presentation

OpenRail One platform, one thousand possibilities

Open Rail Overview Managed switch family – available as RS (rail switch) or MS (modular switch) Rail Switches available with 4, 8, 16 or 24 ports RS20 – all ports are 10/100mbps RS30 – 2 additional gigabit ports (total of 10, 18 or 26 ports) RS40 – all gigabit ports Modular Switches available with 8, 16 or 24 ports MS20 – all ports are 10/100mbps MS30 – adds 1 slot for 2 gigabit ports (total of 10, 18 or 26 ports) Many different media modules available

What is the EtherNet/IP Profile Switch? A new firmware (version 3.0) puts EtherNet/IP functionality into all managed Open Rail switches (RS20/30/40 and MS20/30) Functionally, nothing in the switch changes – this is just an added feature This allows users to integrate the switch directly into the RSLogix5000 I/O tree This makes it much easier for customers to configure and monitor their managed switches Integrating this information into an HMI is easier than ever before Generating network alarms becomes simple All existing Open Rail switches can be flashed up to this firmware level (send an e-mail to firmware@hirschmann-usa.com) Nothing special to order – it’s embedded in every switch Available in March Sample files for RSLogix5000 and RSView Studio can be found at http://samplecode.rockwellautomation.com (search Title – Hirschmann) or at ftp.hirschmann-usa.com/EthernetIP

One more thing… It’s free! There is no additional cost for this functionality. If you buy the switch, it’s there. If you already have a switch, just download and install the firmware.

Additional Technical Information 3.1 release (June) will add support for MACH, PowerMICE and Octopus switch families Other protocols are supported ProfiNet at 3.0 release ModBus TCP – future release Sample files make use of the Add-On Instruction feature in RSLogix5000, which requires version 16 Version 16 is not required for the EtherNet/IP functionality to work – only to take advantage of our samples

Another New Offering: -E Firmware -E is ideal for customers who want some features of managed switches (IGMP Snooping, etc.) but don’t want to have to configure the switch A switch with –E firmware has different factory default settings so that it can be installed in most EtherNet/IP applications with no configuration Good for small, isolated networks All management features are still available, -E just changes some factory defaults so management may not be required

-E Settings These settings are factory default for the –E firmware IGMP Snooping – Enabled (version 2) IGMP Querier Mode – Enabled EtherNet/IP – Enabled IP address via DHCP Address Conflict Detection – On Dip switches are physically set so that they are disabled (all configuration done via software) RSTP – Off All TX ports set to Autonegotiate ***These are the settings that are changed from standard factory default***
