Wikis, Blogs and Podcasts EESL 650 TECH-CONNECTIONS

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL Required Components Wikis Online resource to facilitate creative collaboration Invited contributors can edit and change the product Blogs Online resource used as a diary Invited followers can contribute comments Podcasts Online media files (audio or video) that are released as episodes May be downloaded or accessed online

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL 650: Wikis Requirements Each project group will establish a wiki. Used to collaborate and create course projects Invited contributors will include each group member and all course instructors. Getting Started Go to Choose “Tours” Follow instructions to set-up wiki. Note: Invite each group member and all course instructors to contribute.

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL 650: Wikis Inviting Contributors 1.Go to your wiki. 2.On the left, choose “Manage Wiki”. 3.Choose “Invite People”. 4.Enter the addresses of all instructors. 5.Add the addresses of your project group members.

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL 650: Blogs Requirements Each student will establish a blog. Used to reflect on topics related to teaching math and science to ELLs. Invited classmates will engage in blogging with the blog author. Getting Started Go to Under “Learn More”, choose “Take a quick tour” Choose “create a blog”. Follow instructions. You will invite all instructors and the designated class members to your blog.

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL 650: Blogs Inviting Bloggers 1.Select “View Blog”. 2.Choose “Customize” located at top right. 3.Choose “Settings”. 4.Choose “Permissions”. 5.Under “Blog Readers”, choose “Add Readers”. 6.Enter the addresses of all instructors. 7.Add the addresses of the designated classmates.

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL 650: Podcasts Selecting Podcasts 1.Podcasts must be related to strategies for teaching math and science to ELLs. 2.Podcasts must be available at no cost to view or download. 3.Podcasts must be appropriate for use in K-12 settings. Posting Podcasts 1.Go to the class wiki at the link below Math Science Podcasts for ELL for EESL Read the first page. Follow directions to explore the wiki. 3.Follow directions to post your podcasts and review the podcasts of others.

TECH-CONNECTIONS for EESL 650: Final Notes Make note of questions to ask Saturday. WIKIS 1.Each student will set-up a wiki to use as a collaborative tool for teachers or students. 2.Each student will set-up a wiki. Each group member will have a page at that wikispace. 3.We will monitor progress of the project using the wikispace your team designates. BLOGS 1.Each student will set-up a blog. 2.Each student will invite designated classmates and all instructors to participate in your blog. 3.Each student will participate in the class blog. PODCASTS 1.Each student will locate and review 2 science-ELL, and 2 math-ELL podcasts; review podcasts posted by designated classmates. 2.Podcasts will be posted on the designated class wikispace.
